Power Of Belief

Finally I have here my close friend,SHWETA, whom I had been persistently coaxing to write something few months ago, and that something found a place in the college Newsletter few days ago! She is the kind of the person who don’t really shares what she writes so I felt the responsibility to show it to the world that values writings (yes, that meant sharing it with you people). She doubts her writing skills so please help convince her otherwise. I tell her it happens with practice yet she calls me the master of it.  (That’s so very sweet of her to say that because I know I’m not- yes being sweet is her second nature)

So, without any further babbling, here is what she wrote. Looking forward to your views in the comment section!

We all must have heard this fable about a young boy who fell asleep in his mathematics class. He woke up as bell rang and saw two problems written on the blackboard. Assuming that it was the homework for the day he noted them down and laboured over them through the night. After great difficulty he managed to solve one of them. The following day, when he showed his effort to the teacher, she was stunned because the problem the boy had cracked was unsolvable. So, how could the boy solve an unsolvable problem?? Simple enough. He didn’t know that it was unsolvable. He thought that if he didn’t solve at least one of the two he would be punished. If he had known that the problem couldn’t be solved, he surely wouldn’t have solved it.

Similarly, when we tell ourselves that this can’t be done.., that is impossible.., it’s not my cup of tea.., we believe that to be the truth. The beliefs inculcated in our mind affect us greatly. Most of us have never really analyse our beliefs. That is because we use the word, ‘believe’ in very loose sense. We don’t really give it the worth it deserves. It is very important to understand our beliefs. We should evaluate them from time to time to determine if our beliefs are empowering us or not. Our beliefs act as compass and a map, and guide us towards attaining our goals. They are the inner source of our outer behaivor.

 Mahatma Gandhi once said,

“The man I want to become, if I believe myself to be, I will become.”

Belief is a powerful tool and its power shouldn’t be underrated. Believing in ourselves gives us a quiet confidence in our abilities. It helps us set a direction for our life. From this confidence, we constantly assure ourselves for moving ahead and handle challenges. We must get into the habit of thinking big and believe that it is possible to achieve our dreams. Finally, what we believe determines who we are. We should try to co-create our life to achieve success.

WE CAN FLY IF WE CONVINCE OURSELVES WE HAVE WINGS!!!
