Two People Privilege

It’s been quite some years since we have been traveling together, doing our own research and planning our own itinerary in detail. Malaysia was no different. Preferring to sticking to our journey of discovering a new country, we decided to get around through public transports instead of an end-to-end vehicle or joining a group tour. Looking back we could correlate multiple instances of this trip and coined them as ‘Two People Privilege’. Here’s why.

On the day of Genting Highlands, we got bus tickets to Awana Skyway for 9:15 am because the prior ones were sold out. Nevertheless, we had reached the KL Sentral, starting point for the bus, before 9am. A little investigation about the existing buses told us that our bus was yet to arrive and the one available would leave at 9am. We waited as passengers for both the buses arrived gradually. Our bus arrived too and parked itself in its designated spot. The doors would open only after the previous one left.

Interesting to note, Buses in Malaysia left on time, without waiting for the delayed passengers. So when the 9am bus was about to leave, the conductor called out, looking at us, ‘Two People, Two people!’, indicating there was space left only for two people. Arriving early came to our benefit! Punctuality paying off in ways we didn’t imagine.

Upon reaching Genting, we made our way to the SkyWorlds Outdoor Theme Park. During the start of the day the rides were low on crowd and we would easily get the turn with negligible waiting time. As the day grew old, the waiting time rose. This is when it happened multiple times during different rides. We would be patiently waiting in the queue, mostly behind parents with kids or group tours and a voice would announce asking for ‘Two People, Two people! Come come’. We would gleefully rush forward jumping the queue, like little kids.

This became fun as it happened a few more times in the theme park. It also happened during multiple gondola rides throughout our trip, where we could just jump the queue without hesitation playing on ‘Two People Privilege’ card. We even joked about adding this to the benefits of travelling as a couple.

  1. Two fits well everywhere. It is also good to be two rather than single. Every bit of work becomes easier as well as interesting, breaking the loneliness and boredom. Your post shows how much you have enjoyed this trips of two.

  2. ‘Two People Privilege’ sounds like such a fun little bonus for being adventurous and flexible while traveling. Definitely adding this to my reasons to travel in a duo! ✈️
“Two People, Two people! Come come.”- perfectly captures the spontaneous, playful vibe of the whole experience — like a real-world cheat code you stumble upon by just being in the right place at the right time.
