Evening Escapade

Thrilled with our experience of Petronas Towers and its observation Deck, hunger pangs directed us back to our hotel. To avoid the struggle, we got some food packed on our way back. Reiterating the day so far and discussing our evening plans, we gobbled down the food. It felt surprising that it was still day 1 and we had only arrived here the previous night.

Taking a quick nap and dressing into something suitable for the humidity outside, we started our part two of the day. We took a metro from KL Sentral and headed back to KLCC, and then to Petronas Towers again. Night view with the hourly water fountain show was one of the highly recommended tourist activities. The sight was surely spellbinding. It was hard to look away from these captivating towers.

After the dancing fountain show, our next stop was the famous food street : Jalan Alor, just next to central hub of Bukit Bintang.

Enjoying the evening breeze, we decided to walk from KLCC to Jalan Alor, exploring the streets of Kuala Lumpur. We happen to be firm believers of – Walking is the best way to any explore the depths of any city.

Walking in between the skyscrapers without the vigilance of avoiding unruly vehicles gave this evening stroll a peaceful vibe. The grey glass buildings glittered against the dark sky, looking ethereal. We observed beautiful plants thriving alongside city-life.

Passing through many premium restaurants, hotels and malls, we observed locals having a great Friday evening. Many tourists walked the same path as we did. People from multiple tour groups spending their leisure evening in the city. A few couples zoomed passed us on electric scooters. A girl’s gang in their early twenties giggled as they shot best instagrammable pictures of each other.

As we neared Bukit Bintang, the sounds of street music filled our ears. The streets were full of people arrived at this juncture from all directions, stopping to enjoy the carefree music played by local musicians. The aroma of delicious food beckoning everyone to taste part of their country’s cuisine. I was delightfully surprised to find a street-stall selling roasted sweet potato (shakarkandi) and another one selling variants of our local favorite sweet corn. It surely reminded me of Delhi streets.

Exploring further into the streets, we began following the crowd. The bustling food street of Jalan Alor greeted us.
