Word Of The Year 2025 – Persevere
I hope it isn’t too late for this post. I mean we are already past 1/3rd of the month. Already!! The first complete work-week just got over and it felt a little longer after the festive vibes ended.
As the days of the new year passed by, my non-work hours were consumed by the never-ending winter chores. What most people love about winters is the scrumptious food, but what remains behind the light of the camera is the amount of work it needs to be done. While thoughts about this post were having their own conversations in my head, my hands were too busy delivering delicious dinners.

So, as the weekend hit, I sat down, leaving behind the laundry and the kitchen, to type this one out; because before we know it January will be bidding us goodbye!
Reflecting on the last year’s word – Embrace. I feel the year went quite living by it. I embraced all the things life offered – laughter, trips, sadness, tears, awe of nature, beauty of little things.
Taking this a step further, this year’s theme is to PERSEVERE.
The dictionary defines it to keep trying to do something, even when it’s difficult or takes a long time.
Word of the year did not come easy this time. Many words passed through me but nothing would hit the mark. Somehow, I kept coming back to the difficulty of maintaining the routines. That’s when it struck that I was looking for Perseverance.
In 2024, while embracing the newer parts of me, I found it tough to stick to things I love. I started many projects but left them mid-way or just let them sit on the backburner until the day of completion arrived.
As the life takes over and we deal with a new chapter of being an adult each day, the desire to persevere becomes more important to stay afloat, to be in touch with our true selves.
So, this year I choose Perseverance.
I will Persevere to build habits that benefit me.
I will Persevere to see gratitude in every moment.
I will Persevere towards a better life.
I will Persevere to build routines that matter.
I will Persevere to write more.
I will Persevere to be with my hobbies a little more.
I will Persevere to break out of the shells where I do not belong.
I will Persevere to being true to myself.

This year might have had a slow start, but let’s hope to make it a big one!
Tell me, how has your 2024 been? What’s your word/ theme/ intention for 2025?

You rightly opt “Perseverance ” for coming Life. It’s right Attitude to define Life who really to do very specific in Life.
That’s a good word to choose. I listened to a TED talk where the speaker placed perseverance/grit over intelligence and talent. And no, it’s never too late to set an intention :-).
Lovely intention to pursue in the coming days, Nibha! I love the word and how you intend to apply it to the different facets of life. May the slow start never deter you to live your life fully and intentionally in 2025! All the best for 2025!!
