That Extra Day #LeapDay
Peer pressure is so real, even after becoming adults and knowing about it, the pressure still feels heavier than responsibilities sometimes. Today is that extra day of February which arrived after four years, and the marketing agencies have gone bonkers about it.
Do something special today!
What’s your plan for the extra day?
This day should be memorable!
The list goes on. For a moment, okay more than one moment, I also felt the need or should I say pressure to celebrate this extra day of the year. But being under the weather for the last few days, I realized that though it’s just another day how about being extra grateful today for the blessings we have. Instead of succumbing to the pressure of making this day a grand affair, let’s make this day full of little things.
After spending a full day at work, I almost forgot that there was something special about today. To me, it felt like just another day, just a little bit even crappier! Sometimes life becomes like that. Phases of highs and lows, I tell myself. But today isn’t the day for sulking as social media tells me. So, I decided to put together some words.
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
There are memories good and bad,
of the previous such days gone by.
But today,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
The day doesn’t feel special,
With chores all around.
But then,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
The flowers are blooming,
Birds are singing the songs of joy.
And then,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
Life is on repeat mode now,
I look for the way out.
But someone points and,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
I am happy to be healthy,
I thank my joys with eyes closed.
Opening my eyes,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today is an extra day!
Amazing is the dance of nature in the sky,
The sun saying goodnight.
Another day ends when,
I look at the calendar and say,
Wow! Today was an extra day!
That was my ode to the leap day of 2024 and making this day memorable, what was yours?
