Felicity #AtoZChallenge
There was hullabaloo of emotions amongst everyone. Some felt genuinely happy while others still showed resentment. You can’t make everyone happy seems a bit too real at the moment.
“I now pronounce you as husband and wife”, said the priest before getting down from the altar as the newlywed held hands and their eyes shone brighter than the north star. Their face glowed with extreme happiness. They walked towards the elders for the blessings.
He stood there to be one of the first one to offer blessings. A slight smile played on his lips as he offered his best wishes to the couple. His heart filled with felicity though he knew the society, like always, jeered at the union of two souls in love and commented on self-chosen partners.
“They look beautiful, don’t they?” The boy standing beside him spoke.
“Yes indeed. Though I had always imagined her in the red bridal dress just like her mother…”, his voice trailed off. His daughter in her white trailing bridal down had now reached the other side of the altar with her partner for life.
“Then what changed your mind?” asked the boy curiously.
“You see, I wasn’t very keen on the idea initially. I thought it’s just a random demand of hers like she always does and forgets but this time she didn’t forget and stuck to it”
“And then?”
“Then… it was when I saw them, I saw the peace and happiness in her aura, the way their eyes shone while they were together. I knew that was it.”
“Just like that?”
“Ummhmm”
“And it made you happy?”
“What’s my happiness without her smile?”
The boy saw his sister now walking towards the end of the church. He then turned towards the man and saw his father smile with a hint of happy tears in his eyes.
