Bliss #AtoZChallenge
The door creaked a little as she managed to sneak out of the room leaving her roommate in her deep hangover induced slumber. With a little sling-bag on the shoulder, flip-flops in one hand and a book in other she made her way towards the elevator. She paced impatiently while waiting for the elevator. Taking longer time than usual, it finally arrived as the doors slid open. She let herself in.
The journey to the ground floor took forever, as it seemed to stop at every floor on the way. It only made her miserable as her eyes kept glued to her flip-flops which she had quickly worn after entering the elevator. She avoided looking at anyone who entered or exited until the elevator announced the Ground Level.
Grr, who take the room at the topmost floor! Took me ages to escape, she thought as she walked out of the foyer and out towards the back gate of the hotel where she was staying with her friends for the past two days. The waiter from the last night party had told her the best and the quickest route to the getaway beach in the vicinity. Just the description was enough to lure her for this expedition.
Her sling-bag dangling by her side as she moved swiftly clutching her novel closed to her heart. Her eyes glistened as the shore line came into view, the sand shone brilliantly under the fading light of the sunset. She grabbed herself a place near one of the coconut trees. With the book now in her lap, she closed her eyes to the music of the waves kissing the shore and felt, who says happiness, can be found only while partying till the wee hours… This is what I will call bliss anytime and every time!

Happiness is more than just a word. As we grow old we often forget to take notice of little moments of joy and feel bliss out of random things. Here’s an attempt to find something hidden in the little corners of heart… 💕
Let’s make this world a happier place, with one story at a time!
I’d prefer that getaway rather than the party, no doubt. Glad the waiter had directed her correctly. 🙂
This is my idea of bliss too! Lovely narration, Nibha.
Aha! That created such a vivid imagery and I wouldnt mind being there with my book too!!
My idea of bliss as well! I have done it plenty of times in my beach vacations esp in Goa.
Ah her escape is mine too.. The sound of the waves or the cool shores, its what I need at most times 🙂
Not entirely my idea of bliss …. reading on the beach but that’s perhaps because I’m too old to be sitting on the sand and having the wisps of hair flying in my face…. But well written no doubt.
As I write this, I can hear the waves breaking on the beach a few hundred meters down the road!
My idea of bliss too. Nicely done tale, Nibha.

Burden or Unburden
Totally! Take me to a beach any day, let the waves kiss my feet and I have attained nirvana!!! Beautiful take! Good luck for the rest of the challenge!
Oh I have dreamed for eons to be able to have such a holiday. Just the thought gives me goosebumps, the joyous ones though
A scene and a book, what more can one ask for? Bliss indeed 🙂
A book on a beach is indeed the perfect bliss for me too Nibhz 🙂
Book, beach, sun and sea.. sounds like a blissful getaway indeed.
