Amused #AtoZChallenge
“Nia come here sweetie! It’s time to go home now”, Arisha called out over the noise of other ten kids that were playing in the fete.
“Few more minutes please?” She shouted back from the see-saw but her voice almost drowned in the hulaboo of the other kids. Arisha had by now reached to pick Nia off the see-saw and take her home. It was almost time for dinner now and she had first day of her school tomorrow.
“Come Nia, the time is up! Come!” said Arisha, spreading her arms to let her cousin jump to her but it didn’t happen. On constant insistence, Nia agreed to go home and reluctantly followed her big sister. A big frown had already replaced her nonchalant smile. Arisha offered her hand to hold but Nia kept tossing the pebbles she had picked up from the pavement.
“Nia, you know what?” spoke Arisha, trying to get her attention.
“Umm-hmm”, came the uninterested reply.
“I think you can play a little more, how about fifteen more minutes?” said Arisha.
Nia’s eyes sparkled like diamonds as she muttered a quick thank you and ran back to her swings and other rides. Her happiness evident in her eyes.
How little things can make kids happy, wondered Arisha totally amused by this incident.

Happiness is more than just a word. As we grow old we often forget to take notice of little moments of joy and feel bliss out of random things. Here’s an attempt to find something hidden in the little corners of heart… 💕
Let’s make this world a happier place, with one story at a time!
Yes! What might sound trivial for us might be treasure in children’s eyes. I remember how my son used to hold a blue color bead from a broken abacus as if it was something precious! Great start to AtoZ, Nibha.
That’s the way kids are! Thanks for dropping by! Good luck for AtoZ too!
True, it doesnt take much to make a child happy.
That’s a lovely start to the challenge, Nibha. 🙂
Thanks a lot Shilpa! 🙂
Children know what it is to be happy and carefree!
It takes very little to make a child happy. Sadly, that little grows with the child, until there is little that can make an adult happy.
Loved this story , Nibha. All the best for the rest of the challenge.
What a sweet story and I loved the thoughtful older sister! 🙂
YOu know Nibha, little things can make all happy. Agree kids express it in the sweetest of ways though. This is a total change from your usual writing!! Great going!
Beautiful story to start off the challenge, Nibha. I love it even more because I always believed in those little things in life that makes it worthwhile. Happy A to Z 🙂
Lovely story and I can relate to it as I have 2 daughters and I know how a small thing can bring so much joy to them.
Happiness, indeed, lies in the little things that we adults often fail to notice.
This is such a lovely, heart warming story and a beautiful reminder to hold on to and be mindful to little things precious. You are off with a great start Nibha. 🙂

As much as I’m not a big fan of kids, they do have a lot to teach us. Well done, Nibha.
Looking forward to the rest of the posts.
It’s the little things that matter. 🙂 Those fifteen minutes are priceless to them in a different way than we imagine it.
Fun post! Thanks for sharing!
Such an innocent take on this 🙂 I think you’ll like my story on F too! And oh, I have Nia too in my story in B! 🙂 I am going to have to come here more! Cute story!
I always feel that living life a moment at a time and finding happiness in little things is one thing that everyone must learn from kids.
