(B)lind Date #AtoZChallenge
“Why are you forcing me to do this? I don’t want to go!” she complained as her friend applied eyeliner on her eyelashes.
“Because you lost the bet!”
“I’ll do anything but not this. I don’t want to go for the blind date”, she cribbed as her roommate made the perfect bun of her hair.
“Alia, just go and enjoy. It’s one dinner not like you have to spend rest of your life with him.”
Alia grimaced at her friend’s comment.
“Okay, fine. you have us as the back-up. If you can’t bear him then drop us a message and we’ll handle the rest. But promise me that you will at least give him a chance. At least 15-20 minutes”, her roommate spoke of the contingency plan as she handed her the matching clutch bag to go with her beautiful maroon evening gown.
“You look perfect!” her friends cheered in unison.
The cab had arrived. She reluctantly made her way towards the exit of the house.

“What on Earth was I thinking when I placed a bet with you!”
His best friend laughed off the insult thrown at him which frustrated Ajay even more as he adjusted tie for the nth time now.
“And I don’t even know who this girl is! What am I suppose to talk to her about? What if she is totally dumb or worse a narcissist! You know I just can’t tolerate it…..”, his rambling went on unheard.
“Well, you lost the bet, you have a good chance to win her heart atleast!” came the rhetoric reply from his friend, who got up and sprayed his favourite perfume on his rambling friend, “Now you are ready!” He literally pushed him out of the house and slammed the door.

Alia reached the venue ten minutes before and went on to take the seat by the window side, catching the sea view before her date arrived. She didn’t have any number to contact, hence, she had no other option other than to wait. Constantly glancing at the entrance every once in while, she saw someone walk and her eyes never left him.
Ajay walked in, still cursing his friends under his breath, and at once noticed the beautiful girl sitting at far end of the restaurant. He asked the receptionist if his date has already arrived. All this while, his eyes kept glued to the girl in maroon and wondered if she was looking at him or at the entrance. A smile popped up on his face when receptionist pointed towards her telling him about his blind date.
“Hi! I’m Ajay!” said Ajay to Alia, extending his hand for the handshake. A smile never leaving his eyes.
“Hi! I’m Alia!” she replied back, carefully getting up.
An awkward silence followed for a few seconds when they just looked at each other, but their hearts already dancing to the song yet unknown to both of them, like their souls already knew each other.

Agree with Shailaja! 😛
Sorry, I’m a bit of a cynic when it comes to “love”. Seen too much of ‘fake’.
I loved how you wrote this though… especially the end. Perfect 10 on the writing!

Very sweet story…you must be in love 😉 I’m such a cynic that I look for negative twists. I still enjoyed it in spite of my cynical mind.

The bets which led to love! Quite a coincidence. It’s a love story that their fictional kids would be proud to share with everyone! 😀
