A Beautiful Forever #BarAThon

“Hurry up Ruchi! We’ll miss the flight otherwise!” Avinash said, holding on to his impatience with all the politeness he could use.
“Yeah! Just one more minute darling!” She disappeared into the guest bedroom again where Avinash’s parents were staying for the next week.
“Ma, just call us anytime if you need any help. And Aditi, my sweetheart, promise me, you won’t trouble your Grandma and Grandpa while Ma Pa are away, ok?”
“Yes Mumma!”, two-year-old Aditi smiled but she was visibly sad.
With a broken heart, Ruchi said the quick goodbye and kissed her on the forehead. Avinash skipped the scene, he was never really good with goodbyes. He waited by the door as Ruchi joined him another minute later.
It was the first time they were going away anywhere without their little princess, who was named Aditi, much because Ruchi wanted it. They had outright rejected the proposal of this trip earlier but on repetitive insistence from everyone, they reluctantly accepted this vacation.
Two hours later, they boarded the flight and the take-off was announced by the pilot. Ruchi sitting by her favourite window seat, clutched his hands. Even after been travelling since years, she was still afraid of flying and it remained her least favourite mode of travel. As Avinash took her hand into his hands, he remembered the first time ever they had held hands.
Five years back
It was Royal Events silver jubilee bash. Ruchi had obviously invited Avinash. This was the third time they were meeting, first being the Success party and third being Dipshita’s birthday previous week. While everyone was dressed to impress, Ruchi wore simple navy blue gown with dangling earrings and hair let loose. With hardly any make-up put to use, she looked natural amongst the lot. She kept running around the place still trying to manage everything, making sure that the party proved to be the one no one would forget anytime soon. And she was surely succeeding in that.
Sometime into the party, the drinks have been served and the music played on. The theme of the music changed every hour so as to please all. This time the most romantic songs played in the background when Avinash thought he saw her blush after Dipshita had whispered something in her ears. Moments later, every other couple in the hall was dancing to the tune of the music, and Dipshita made sure Ruchi and Avinash faced each other. As if the moment was frozen for a minute, they kept staring into each other’s eyes. With all the courage he could muster, he asked her for ‘the dance’. It was the first time they had held hands, which ofcourse they had never let go thereafter.
That was their beginning of another beginning. The life began to change. Ruchi pulled him out of his depression and he did gradually success in casting his spell over her breaking into her oblivion. The coffee shop just outside her office was his favourite evening gateway. Avinash’s parents were the happiest when he introduced them to Ruchi. For them, she was a God-sent angel who had filled their son’s life with happiness. A year later, Avinash proposed Ruchi for marriage in the most unromantic way he could fathom, while walking her back from work. He promised her, a beautiful forever. Their wedding was a grand affair. It had to be considering Ruchi had been arranging such events for previous five years. Two years later, they were blessed with a baby girl. Ruchi named her Aditi instantly.
“Will she be alright without us?” whispered Ruchi.
Her worried voice brought him back from the flashes of his favourite memories. He smiled looking at her.
“What are you smiling at?”
“She’ll be fine. It’s just four days. Stop worrying so much, my love”, Avinash assured her, though it was hard to pacify her when she was in her panic mode. To save him the trouble, the plane landed at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius.
