“Present?” Kim and Kay asked Zoe with the same look on their face.
“Yes, that’s what this device shows us!” He handed them the device which had earlier showed them their location. He had done some tinkering and connected it with his watch so now it showed them them exact time and date of the place they were at. And to their surprise, it was exactly the same date when they had sneaked out of their home in early morning with an intention of having a little adventure and being back home by the evening.
“It’s today!” said Kay.
“Yes! It’s today. No past. No time travel”, said Zoe.
“But then this place is long gone under the water and also I don’t remember crossing The Wall”, asked Kay.
“I know all of that Kay. That’s what I’m unable to understand that where are we exactly”, said Zoe.
“Can we just walk towards the aircraft? I don’t feel safe here anymore. Please?” pleaded Kim. The nocturnal sounds of the forest were beginning to scare her. She realized that they were somewhere they should not be.
Both of the younger sibling agreed without any argument and got up to follow Kim, who was already walking the way they had come through. She tried her best not to focus on the negative thoughts that were trying hard to gain her attention at the moment. After walking for sometime they reached near a pond which reflected the beauty of the sky but something was amiss. What was it? She thought.
“Why does this moon has such a strange shade of yellow?” asked Zoe.
Kim hadn’t noticed that. She paused and stared at the reflection of Moon in the pond and then at the moon itself. It had a reddish shade and it was accompanied by a star that shone a bit too brightly.
After a few moments of deep thought, Kim finally spoke, “Do you believe in Parallel Universe?”
“What!” Kay and Zoe were both shocked.
“Yes, I have read about alternate universe also known as parallel universes which are just same yet different. I read sometime back that Everything that we see around us is just one possible configuration of all the probabilities of any one thing happening. One interpretation of quantum mechanics is that all the other arrangements of probabilities could exist in their own separate universe“, she looked at them to see that they were hanging on each word that left her mouth.
She let her words sink in. “I think we have jumped from our universe to the other parallel universe where never Man never existed and this place remained and flourished as it should have been without the ultirior motives of the Man”, she said.
“If what you say is true, how do we get back?”
“The same way we came through”, she said.
