She walked back home after yet another coffee date with Mark. It’s been two months and they had gone for than fifteen coffee dates. She smiled as she added one more to her count. She felt like a teenager these days. To her juggle there was this fourth addition of Mark. But that was the time she would totally be herself. She wouldn’t need those masks she used to wear in front of everyone else.

What made her happy was not the coffee dates but the company of Mark. She wondered if that was what she was actually missing in her life, a companionship. But of late she had begun to realize that it was something more than just companionship. She had begun to fall for him lately. Gradually he had begun to fill in the blanks of her life. He had written chapters on those blank pages where nobody had even written a word.

But this wasn’t just the story of Ella who was smitten by the gentleman’s charm. Mark was equally hit by her simplicity. He couldn’t imagine himself not talking to her. She was the fist thing on her mind when he woke and the last thought has his mind captured before receding into sleep. He had thanked Eric, his cousin, and Kevin for giving him her number when he had wanted to apologize. That one meeting over a cup of coffee had changed his perspective of life. Happiness had begun to bloom in his heart since the day Ella had walked into his life. HE wondered, what difference a single person can make in someone’s life.

Another month passed by and none of them had said anything about the butterflies that flew in their stomachs when they saw each other. But words really weren’t the need of the hour. Their eyes would read each other’s mind and warm their hearts. Nobody apart from these two souls who were fusing to be one, knew about the love they held for each other in their heart. But soon the world would know.

It was baby shower for Sarah’s baby. They had thrown a little get together. Sarah had invited Ella and Kevin had invited Eric, his childhood friend. Eric brought Mark along with him. But the day didn’t turn out to be as happy one as they thought it would be, specially for Ella. It shattered her instead.
