“Mr. Sen, where are the reports?”, he shouted as he barged into his office.
“They are on your table, Sir”, he replied politely. Working with David since last two years, Mr. Sen was now completely unaffected by the change in the tone of his boss whenever any case wouldn’t go as per his wishes.

David stormed into his cabin and picked up the envelope that hid the copy of autopsy reports for the three bodies that were found dead almost two days ago in their very home. ‘Cold-blooded murder’ it was, as the every newspaper daily had announced it the very next morning. He tore open the envelope and pulled out the reports scanning them for anything that he didn’t know. With in an instant, a frown appeared on his face declaring a dead end again. Thinking he might have missed out something in a hurry, he sat down on the sofa that was lying in the corner with an empty glass table to accompany it. He gulped down some water down his throat and sat to analyze the reports for the missing clues.

Something got to be here, he kept telling himself. Two hours later when he glanced out of his window, it was dark. The Moon and The Sun had switched their duties to watch over the world. His watch told him it was 8pm already. His stomach growled in hunger which he conveniently ignored. He put the reports aside and got up to stretch himself a bit. Other forensic reports had confirmed that the blood found near the sink had traces of DNA from the whole family. Not much of lead there. Whosoever killed them must have washed the knife or the hands there, hence the blood. But by this time, he had the contents of these autopsy reports by heart.

There were traces found of Alprazolam in Dr. Karan’s body. Then there was one stab through the hearts of both Reeti and Alia and one in the abdomen of Dr. Karan. Normally to anyone, there wasn’t anything suspicious but something was definitely not right for him. He has already gone through the details of the drug found in Dr. Karan’s body at the time of death, but he needed more proof to concrete his theory of story. There was no doubt that Reeti and Alia had been killed by driving the knife through their hearts. But Dr. Karan’s still remained a mystery to him. A person couldn’t die from a wound in the abdomen so soon enough to not call for help.

“Sir?”, Mr. Sen knocked twice at his door while he was busy contemplating over various theories in his mind.
“Yes?” He turned around to see him holding another brown envelope in his hand.
“This came in just now. It contains the information from Ms. Alia’s cellphone.”
“Yes, give it to me and also please send in another cup of coffee please.”
As Mr. Sen vanished out of his sight handing him the envelope and a grim glance to the nine cups of coffee lying empty on the table.

He quickly emptied the envelope. A few sheets of paper and a pen-drive fell out of it. He picked up the sheets which gave him the account of calls and messages sent and received by Alia. Nothing out of the ordinary there other than the proof to the Rohan’s story. He picked up the pen-drive and connected it to his laptop kept on the main desk in the room. Slowly he opened each folder of the pendrive. Finally he scrolled the folder that contained the pictures taken by Alia. Then out of a sudden the last photo in the folder, drained all the color out of his face. He held the table hard not to lose the balance. What he saw was the theory he didn’t want to accept. He checked the time of the photo taken, 11:40PM.

He had no words left in his throat to make the call. Taking a few deep breaths, a minute later he typed a message to Inspector Gupta.
“I know who is responsible for the homicide.”
