It has been a restless day and also a clueless one. He returned home dejected. His wife was equally shocked to hear the misfortune that had struck. David has been always the quick case solver. Though it had been only thirty-six hours since the homicide yet he was being hard on himself for being no where close to the culprit. Never in his wildest dreams had he thought that he would have to solve the case involving his best friend and that too being one the suspects himself. Life wasn’t fair and predictable either.

Sleep was miles away when he retired to bed though it had been a long and tiring day. Memories of his best friend kept haunting him asking for justice. He kept on switching sides every five minutes. In mind there was a constant cycle of events and scarce clues so far. But there was hardly any conclusion he could draw out of them. He hoped hard that autopsy report to reveal something at least. Also, the details of Alia’s phone might change some situation. After infinite of moments of insomnia and countless analysis of the case, his body gave into the exhaustion and he finally dozed off.

He woke up early morning and went for a jog to get some fresh air and also some perspective into his case. After getting back home an hour later, he was still where he was last night. He decided to visit Reeti’s house once again and also set it up for the impending funeral next. Ofcourse, this responsibility was on him.

He turned the knob to open the door and the memories hugged him hard. Not letting emotions come in his way, he quickly got to work looking closely at everything. There had been no extra fingerprints anywhere that day itself. The house was exactly how Reeti liked to keep it, everything clean and organized to the detail. There were no signs of battle against the crime. There wasn’t even anything that could tell the tale of their fight that, as suggested by Rohan-Alia conversation.

He walked into her bedroom. Everything was in place. On the chest cabinet next to the kingsize double bed, he could see a little clutter of medicines. Two packs of the same medicine were fairly new but empty. It showed no signs of daily usage. Seemingly, all its components had been taken off in one attempt. But why? He took out his phone from his pocket and searched the name of the medicine on internet. The result told him it was variant of sleeping pill only available after prescription from a doctor. Something is fishy for sure, he thought.

After initial clue, there was nothing that could help him put twos and twos together. He decided to go back to his office and send this piece of medicine pack for fingerprint check to know who had gulped these down, whether intentionally or unintentionally. As far as he knew none of them in the house was in need of a prescribed sleeping pill. Just as he was about to open the door to exit, he noticed a small crimson patch on the brownish-orange curtains of the living room near the door. The patch seemed to merging with the crimson grass-like design of the curtain. He immediately dialed for the forensic experts.

All the team arrived to take the same sample, he waited around fidgeting with his phone and keys in his pocket. He wished these clues to lead him somewhere. He felt even more determined to uncover the murderer now. His blood raged every second he spent in this house. He was busy deciding on his next plan of action when the ringtone of his phone broke his reverie.

“Yes, speaking”,he said when the voice on the other side asked for his name.
“Sir, the autopsy are here”, the voice said.
“Ok, I’m will be there in 20 minutes”, he said as he raced to get back to his office.

  1. Oh, the killer did leave some clue… wondering what the autopsy report would reveal… more clues?

  2. I’m absolutely sure that Rohan was in a way involved in this. I can feel my intuition tingling all over.
Aha! But what if the blood stain is from one Reeti, her husband or Alia? 🙁

  3. Yes, as they say, the one who does the crime will in evidently leave some clue or the other, even if he tries hard to erase them all. This is BRAVO! I cannot wait to read how this unfolds! Seriously!
But I don’t think it is Rohan. He should be the best friend here! 🙁

  4. Good at least he has some clues to work with.Autopsy reports are crucial, also the forensic on the curtain could reveal something. Waiting anxiously for the next…
