Best Kept Secret
Everything was dark when she sneaked into her room through the window. With her trembling hands she closed the window as quietly as possible, not wanting to make her presence known. Her heart beating fast. Her ears aware of even the slightest sound, but there was only silence. She quickly picked up her old Nokia phone to type her usual text message, “Reached home. Everything’s fine.” She typed in the sender’s name, her only confidante.
She got up to hide her books under her bed, her best kept secret.
One more day of education obtained. She finally sighed with relief.

My theme is READER’S IMAGINATION: you hear a book’s name and your imagination takes you the world of your own. The world your imagination creates which is totally different than the world which author has created in the book.

Best Kept Secret – Jeffrey Archer
Jeffrey Archer’s mesmerizing saga of the Clifton and Barrington families continues…
1945, London. The vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie. The Lord Chancellor’s deciding vote will cast a long shadow on the lives of Harry Clifton and Giles Barrington.
Does Sebastian become a millionaire? Does he go to Cambridge? Is his life in danger? Best Kept Secret, the third volume in Jeffrey Archer’s bestselling series, will answer many questions but, once again, pose so many more..

I loved it Nibha! Nothing better than education 🙂
Great piece in just 100 words!
Wonder what education she received. But I guess that’s best kept a secret.
Ah, that’s sad to get an education she has to keep it a secret. Best Kept Secret was one of my favorites but I’ve forgotten the story line now.
Good theme chosen….as imagination is best tool a writers got 🙂
Will wait for more 🙂
It was, indeed, a best kept secret.. Nicely swritten.
that’s a beautiful story… indeed best kept secret, but I wonder what her circumstances would have been.
Beautifully written in so few words. Forces to me deliberate on further, ponder more about her circumstances.. and that’s wonderful Nibha 🙂 Looking forwards to all the posts throughout this month 🙂
Loved reading your story Nibha. Wonder what was her story, though!
That’s a lovely story…best kept secret and so worth keeping! Good on her!
You’ve raised more questions than ever 😉 good build up!
Im reminded of the housemaid who’s an author of several books. Shame on me I forget her name. She’s based in Calcutta. She sneaked in to read from her owner’s library…when she began
Getting education in secret? Hiding her books under the bed? Sad, yet inspiring at the same time.

I loved the twist! Best of luck working your way through the alphabet!
I love a good secret, but sometimes they really shouldn’t be secrets.
