When I wished I had SuperPowers!

Last night when I read this Blogadda’s WOW Prompt about one Super-power I would want to have and immediately all the super-heroes or villians I have seen or heard of came to my mind! I wondered about the pros and cons of every power I could possess even for just a day. What adventure would it be I wondered if I got even one of those super-power!! Be it mind-reading, flying high with invisible wings, manipulating people’s dreams, seeing future…..

Thinking about all these power that I knew, I imagined how life could be with the superpowers. Then I saw birds flying high above my reach! Oh, I so wished I could fly too! Just then someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned around. He had aura around himself and looked perfectly divine. His long white flowing overcoat hid anything he might be wearing. He signaled me to follow him. Transfixed, I followed him. After a minute’s walk he offered me a seat on the bench facing the mountains, where the sun will rise in the morning. He sat there beside me. He hadn’t spoken a word yet but I was already enchanted.
“You clearly don’t know who am I?”, he spoke softly.
“No”, I accepted, still in awe.
“God has sent me to grant you one super-power of your wish. Tell me what you wish for!”, he smiled as he spoke.
I was astonished. It can’t be true!
“I want – “, I was about to blurt what I want when I realized I don’t know what I wanted! I have been thinking about superpowers but to settle on just one, I hadn’t decided that.
“Yes? What do you want?”, he spoke again disrupting my thoughts with his melody-like voice.
“Ummm…”, I paused again. One thing, I said to myself, What one thing!
“Ask what you wish, i will just warn you once and if you persist I’ll grant your wish”, he said.

“There are answers I need to find, Give my power to read people’s mind!”, I said.
“Beware, That might seem echanting, but will leave you daunting!”
That left me thinking!

Me: “Invisible I want to be, That might keep Life problem-free!”
He: “This is not a happy news, but Individuality you might lose!”

Me: “With no restriction to apply, Just let me able to fly!”
He: “There are visions you might see below, that will take away your glee and glow!”

Me: “Help me forget all worries and dismay, so I can live smiling away!”
He: “With no failures to teach, no goal you will ever reach!”

Me: “Seeing future whenever I feel, there won’t be any failures to deal!”
He: “Visions will make you overjoyed, But unhappy future you can’t avoid!”

Me: “I wish I could do magic, Saving world from situations tragic!”
He: “Spells you will have to learn, Doing both harm and good is what you will earn!”
This continued, I exhausted the list of powers I could think of, but I couldn’t decide on one.

Me: “Everything has two sides to coin, Don’t know which power to join!”
After a few seconds pause, he said:
“You will know what mind holds, there will always be a story to be told;
Being invisible is your wish, serving with pen daily new dish;
Fly with the wings of words, take people to different worlds;
Escaping into world without worries, that would filled with happiness and flurries;
Future will be in yours to make, whether real, fantasy or fake;
Creating magic with words you write, filling lives with black white!
I grant you Everything at once, the Power of utmost importance!”

Saying that he got up.
“Sun is about to come up, I must leave now. Enjoy your Power to create and destroy with your words”, having said that he left!

A little later my alarm buzzed and brought me back from My Dreamland to reality. I checked my phone for messages. It had one from an unknown number saying, “Hi! Your entry has been selected to be published in the next issue. Welcome to the Writer’s Club!”
The words brought back the faint glimpse of the dream I had had. Indeed, I already had the Power of great importance!
