Smiling? Why?
Here’s another diary entry of the ordinary girl. Lets read it together..
Dear Diary, I was commuting via city bus with friends. Seeing a vacant window seat I quickly grabbed it. I always love window seats no matter how old I am. Capturing the scenes outside the window and letting my mind free, I was smiling to myself. I didn’t even realize until my friend, who was now sitting beside me, hurled the most-hated-and-difficult-to-answer question at me. “why are you smiling?” Now, how the hell am I supposed to put my every thought into words that had made me smile? It can be a billion things that made me smile- A sight outside, a memory from past, a song, future anticipation, a compliment I suddenly remember, imagination of my dreams coming true, or it can be any random thought! Not wanting anyone to board my train of thoughts, I reply with a polite smile, “Nothing, just like that” “Nothing is always something”, came the reply. Well, I know it too that nothing is always something. And before I decide which thought to share as “something”, the bus stops and we reach our destination. I am so thankful for the escape. See, a simple smile can trigger so many questions-what happened? Thinking of what rather whom? What made you smile? A list of whats and whys follow! People say, smile A lot. So smiling a lot would mean lot of questions! Phew! Not a nice scenario at all. Keep smiling 🙂 Always keep smiling, Ordinary “Smiling” Girl. |
You must have been asked for the reason behind your smile.. what did you say?
You may read the other pages of diary here! The thoughts shared aren’t from the personal diary of the writer. They are based on observation and input from friends and personal experiences.
I like your comment “Because I am master of own smile. A smile that hides anything to everything.” Something to think about. Good post — Carol @ Battered Hope

Agreed with you swathi!! Unanswered smile leaves them perplexed! 😛
I smile too and dont give a damn when people ask me questions. I just smile back. It irritates them. ON the other hand it might make them think somethings off with me 😀
