Goodbyes

Here’s another diary entry of the ordinary girl. Lets read it together..

Dear Diary,
Travelling a lot recently there is hell lot to be written.
The word goodbye is in itself quite enough to bring out the splurge of emotions. It can be anything from happiness to sadness, being together to being lonely, restlessness of ending vacations, tensions of upcoming endeavors and list goes on!
The word goodbye weighs heavier than it sounds!
Here’s a glimpse of some I caught hold of!
When a father comes to see off her daughter, he smiles and bids her goodbye. His smile hides the tears, just to stay strong for her daughter. But daughter feels it and a tear escapes her eyes.
A mother is giving all the possible instructions and suggestions to his son who is leaving home for first time. She knows he won’t be implementing any yet she need to tell him all. Its her care for him. And amidst all these instructions, her voice breaks down. She hides it brilliantly, coughing, balancing herself.
Parents, best actors of all times! Yet their children see through!
Little sister, came to see off her elder sibling because she didn’t want to let her go yet. She won’t be having anyone to fight with and scold her unnecessarily! The things she hated so far are the things she will miss the most! Her eyes speak sadness.
The latest trend, friends come to bid farewell to their best buddies. Laughter and chattering voices join the station chaos. Their fun and discussions may seem to be futile to the eavesdropping audience but it speaks about the bond they will forever cherish, a forever friendship!
Bidding goodbyes and hurling all the caring instructions with the speed double that of train, they are the parents in disguise, when away from home.
Then there is Junior or subordinate bidding farewell to the boss. Heavy discussions regarding important deals have followed them right from the silent conference hall to the noisy railway station. Train departs and the subordinate leaves planning about rest of the day.
Affectionate goodbyes displayed by the love birds speak unspoken wish to meet again even before separation. Their eyes are talking now. Uncertainty of their next meeting hangs in the air, undiscussed.
Well, not all people are lucky enough to have someone by their side while boarding the train. Some observe around; seeing the affectionate goodbyes, loneliness fills their heart or the memories of their loved ones take them to time travel. Some just try to kill the time not doing anything exactly other than making rounds to the enquiry counter.
Some simply smiling to themselves thinking of reuniting with their family and friends after the journey ends. Their departure means happiness for them; step closer to home.
Some are deeply lost in their world of thoughts. Some busy themselves jotting down everything that comes to mind; yes, that’s exactly me!

New Hellos aren’t easy,
But Goodbyes are the hardest to say;
No matter wherever we are,
In my heart you will always stay.

Ordinary “Travelling” Girl.

  1. Goodbyes are the hardest especially when its hard to let go and next to impossible to hold on and no matter how much you try you cannot control the hurricane of emotions going inside…

  2. totally agree with you nibha. good byes are alwys the hardest! the goodbyes during send off, with a promise to stay in touch, thats the hardest one i had to face so far..

  3. The hardest goodbye I’ve ever had to say was the one on December 28 when my love died and left me alone. Never have I cried like I did that evening and even up today. :'( But I know that someday I will be blessed to be able to say hello again and hug him tight.

  6. This post reminds me of my niece. Years back when she was just 5 year old, she got attached to me during my visit to my aunt’s place! When I was leaving, my mom asked me if she wants to come with us to see us off? she said, “I don’t like to say goodbyes, it multiplies the pain! “
