A Book can Change your Life- The Secret
When this theme for writing a Book Review came up for Day 4 for the Write Tribe- Festival of Words, I thought which latest book I read that I could review. I seriously found no answer to it. It’s been the third month of the year and I haven’t read a single new book! And it did make me sad! You know, I am the kind of person who always have a book to read, but lately it’s been only textbooks! Apart from these the only thing am reading these days is “blogs”.
To think of writing a review for a book, the only option seemed to write about the textbook I have kept aside right now. I know, it won’t interest you and it fail to interest me as well 😛 People may call me a bibliophile, but I wonder that doesn’t make me fall in love with these textbooks, no matter how favorite the subject is!
So, moving little back in time, I read “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne a few months ago. It was highly recommended to me by a cousin. It has deeply influenced him and said, “It will change your life“. I have read and heard the same from other sources as well. So, when I bought this book, I was instantly drawn to its charm. This was new to me. I am usually a Fiction person, and don’t really read Non-Fiction and frankly, self-help books bore me. But this one didn’t. Holding it in my hands made me feel like I was holding something divine, that will change my life forever. Yes strange, but I actually did get this feeling!
The Secret is based on the earlier film of the same name that was released in DVD format in March 2006. The tenet of the film and book is that the universe is governed by a natural law called the law of attraction. In this book, you’ll learn how to use The Secret in every aspect of your life — money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.
This book simply describe the “Power of our thoughts” and how we can tame this power to our well-being. According to this, “Like attracts like“, which simply means that whatever you think can happen, whether good or bad. It’s mantra is- “Ask, Believe and Receive”. To elaborate:
Ask– Ask what you want
Believe– Believe that the universe will conspire to bring that thing to you
Receive– Finally Receive what you Asked for!
See, its simple! It’s all about feeling good, about yourself and everything around you!
This book indeed changed something in me. It changed my perception of the things around. I became a more positive person. It taught me show “Gratitude” for anything to everything I ever received from this Universe.
So, what are you waiting for? Go and Change your Life!!
