Outside The Exam Hall
Sitting idle outside the Exam hall, I penned down these thoughts for Write Tribe
Festival of Words: Day 3- Free Write
I just came out of the examination hall. My friends still inside scribbling last minute answers. I am as usual out before the bell rings! There are still 15 minutes left. After a stroll in corridor, I sit on the stairs outside the hall.
I can see students scribbling with the speed that can even challenge the speed of light. Some are trying to have peek in others’ answer sheet. Some calmly revising all the answers. Random expressions on every face- lost(migrated to other world thinking the answer), tensed(can’t remember the exact words), satisfied(that’s the topper’s face after writing a really long answer), worried(is it sufficient to clear the exam), pale(surely gonna flunk), confused(was this the answer or was that?) and some just writing with a blank expression. Once in a while a student leaves and some who spared a minute from writing wondered, how did he/she leave so early.
I am still Waitng for my friends to come out. I always wonder what these people scribble till the examiner snatches away the answer sheet. And they wonder how do I always escape the exam hall before time.
My answer- I can’t write such long answers, filling pages after pages is just not my cup of tea!
But you are a writer, they say.
Well, I myself don’t know where this writing capability flies off as soon as I enter the exam hall. Only if I could let go of my thoughts I would have filled the whole answer sheet, which otherwise stares blankly at me. At times the eerie silence in the exam gives wings to mind and it soars into the world of it own imagination. Pulling it back to focus on the questions yet to answered and thinking hard, I manage to write only few lines. I wish, writing answers was as easy as writing these blog posts! Then I would have been inside scribbling furiously rather than waiting here endlessly.
And the bell finally rings. Now they will have to part with their answer sheets no matter how reluctant they are.
Oh,finally a friend in sight. And there comes the question- “How you always manage to leave early?”
I shrug.
“Anyways, how was the exam?”
I better sign off now, the post-exam discussions are highly confidential! 😛
