The (W)ait #AtoZChallenge

Another hour has passed. Yet no news of him. She waited at the dining table, her eyes fixed on the laptop in front of her but her mind was elsewhere.

His meeting had gone far beyond the stipulated time. He was becoming restless and kept glancing at his mobile. It was time.

She kept glancing at the food kept on the table and then at her phone. He had not seen any of the messages let alone reply them. Calls have gone unanswered. Her eyes were drooping now. Her stomach had stopped hoping for the food to be served tonight. But her heart kept waiting on.

He finally walked in with his laptop in tow, picked up the plate of food from the table and headed straight to his room. He didn’t bother to change and just fired his laptop back again.

Her eyes were almost about to close when the familiar tone brought back her smile. And the smile grew bigger when she saw his face on skype and heard his voice from the other side of screen, “Hi sweetheart!” Her wait was finally over.
