The (K)iss
He kept looking at her as she struggled to finish the last few bites of the icecream. He had stopped eating just so he can watch her eat. She looked so innocent. Icecream was her favourite and she was his. A few minutes later, which was pure delight for him, she managed to clear the bowl. They then walked out to the nearest entrance for the beach.
Words flew effortlessly while they discussed random experiences of life, sometimes even surprising each other. They walked quite a stretch only pausing a while when the Sun bade them goodbye. They hands entwined as they saw the Sun leave and welcomed the dusk to set in. Hours went by and the night breeze now played with her hair while she tried to keep them off her face. A light dinner with a few drinks by the sea-side was all they had. It seemed they just filled themselves with each other’s presence.
By the time they reached home, it was already past midnight. It felt like time was running away too fast, slipping through the hands like the sand. Just like Time, Sleep betrayed them too. Just an hour before sunrise when stars still adorned the sky, he whispered to her, “Want to walk the beach again?”
“Now?” she asked but agreed nevertheless. Beaches were a favourite for both of them. She could never deny a walk by the beach especially when he was by her side.
It was colder than they had anticipated. They walked a mile and then sat on the sand, huddled next to each other awaiting the rise of the sun a new day. Few minutes later, the sun arrived in all its glory. It was when she was lost in the beautiful shades of nature, he kissed her taking her by surprise. One followed the another as he knew quite well how she loved the morning ones. She smiled, now that sunrises just became her favourite more than sunsets.

He glanced sideways. She had slept off, her head in his lap, yet again while watching their favourite movie nth time today. After the first time, they never reached the end of it again, either of them always slept off before the movie could finished. He smiled at this thought, kissed on her forehead before snuggling next to her under the blanket.

I could visualize the whole imagery in the narration. That’s the power of your writing, soft romance, sensual writing and a tender kiss. Love it.
Another heartwarming story, Nibha. Like it!!
