Priya held his hand gently as a lone tear escaped from the corner of her eye. It was a painful sight for her, seeing the love of her life, her husband laying down with so many machines around. His barely audible whispers were lost in the humming of these machines. Once in a while she would close her eyes and take a deep breath, gathering strength from the deepest corners of her body, but never leaving his hand even for a second unless a doctor or nurse insisted her to do so.
“All will be fine sweetheart. We will get through this too”, she kept telling him this, though the reports were’t actually in their favour this time. He had lost lots of blood and she was unable to make arrangement for the same. All her efforts had been proved futile. The only thing she hoped for now, was a miracle.

Many hands went up in the air the instant the Dean finished his sentence. The grim expression on his ever-smiling face spoke about the gravity of the situation.  He left the room followed by five students while the other group of five students left to buy other necessary items. The remainder of the students awaited their turns for the job at hand while their mind sending up the prayers already.

Few days later….
The doorbell ringed. Priya ran from the kitchen to see who it was. She didn’t want the visitor to be ringing the bell twice, it might wake her husband up. She opened the door, making the least of noise.
“Oh Good Evening Dean!” She said, warmly welcoming him and the three students inside the house.
“Hello! How’s your husband doing now?” he asked as he took seat in one of the chairs in the veranda. In her 1BHK, this was the only place left currently to welcome any guests or visitors that came to see her husband since the day he was discharged from the hospital.
“He’s doing good. It’s his second life and it is this gift of life that I owe you for. Every second of it”, she said gratefully.
“Oh it’s not me. It’s you and your love that came back to you”, he glanced at the three students who haven’t spoken a single word since then.
She looked confused as she served them biscuits with the tea. She wasn’t able to afford cookies any longer.
“The day you had called that you’ll resigning because you had exceeded the quota of your available leaves, explaining to me about your priorities; I had inquired from the hospital in detail about the health of your husband and then I had gone to your class to see if any of the students could help in anyway. But I must say that I was surprised to see that lot of students whom I expected to squeeze out at the first possible chance, stood as one to help you out. Their eyes reflected all the care and affection you had showered upon them during your short stay at our college. And I knew you had taught them what no teacher had taught them till now”, he smiled as he paused to sip his tea.
“Ma’am, through your little gestures, you taught us the real meaning of love, extending our hands to the one who need us and walking an extra mile for the people we care about. That Love doesn’t need a reason. This is the least we could do against the gift of lessons you gave us”, the second-year student spoke before the Dean could respond.

There is no one who hadn’t known love. We all have been touched by it at some point or the other. So this April I will take you through the little snippets of love that will warm your heart, touch your soul and might moist your eyes. Stay tuned and watch love unfold daily in new ways.
